Flushing Animal Hospital was started in January of 1981 by Dr. Scott Liggett. His goal was to provide a higher level of pet care than was routinely available.
By having in house diagnostic laboratory equipment he was able to establish a diagnosis and start treatment within hours of an examination instead of having to wait 12 to 24 hours to obtain test
results - a critical time difference for a seriously ill pet. The office was started by converting the family room and garage of an existing home while living with his family in the home itself.
Emergencies were taken 7 days a week.
Our need for additional space required another addition in 2001. We had the hospital
completely redone with the addition of offices, consultation rooms, a library/conference center, a separate isolation ward to keep contagious pets away from healthy surgical patients and an on-site
apartment with video observation of the hospital wards to allow a staff member to be available at all times to monitor critical care patients.
In February 2019, the hospital
was purchased by Dr. Keri Florida. Dr. Florida has since made many changes and improvements to the facility, which includes upgrading surgical monitoring equipment, updated dentistry equipment,
adding and upgrading bloodwork equipment, and expanding our pharmacy. Dr. Florida has also upgraded the clinic to digital x-ray,
as well as upgraded our ultrasound machine and autoclave. Dr. Florida has many plans for future
updates coming soon!
